Positioning campus women’s and gender equity centers for success

This chapter ¹ explores structural issues impacting today’s campus women’s and gender equity centers with a focus on organizational type, divisional location/reporting line, and physical space. The chapter also discusses the recent interconnected trends of incorporating inclusion, intersectionality, and social justice principles; merging identity centers; and (re)naming women’s centers. The chapter concludes by summarizing the importance of structural considerations in strategic planning.
