ABSTRACT

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) encompasses a group of anomalies in which the pulmonary veins drain into the systemic venous circulation via persistent splanchnic connections. The entity was first described in 1798 by Wilson. Muller performed the first partial correction at UCLA in 1951. The first complete correction was accomplished using inflow occlusion by Lewis and Varco in 1956.
