ABSTRACT
Planning commissions are subject to an array of laws and rules. They are guided by local laws, such as zoning and subdivision regulations. They are guided by state laws such as state constitutions and laws that enable local zoning and subdivision regulations. They are guided by the U.S. Constitution and federal laws that relate to the ability to regulate religious or adult entertainment uses. And of course they are subject to a mix of federal, state, and local court decisions.
