ABSTRACT

This chapter suggests that some ways of mapping out that plan, first by suggesting that it is important to decide whether it's time to make a change, and then by suggesting ways for planners to figure out what that change should be. If planners want to redirect or restart their career, it's time to make a career plan. Where do planners see themselves fitting in the planning profession? What are their skills, and how might a new employer use them? How can they secure the job they want? Making a career plan goes hand in hand with the process of taking stock and improving themselves. If planners have a clear idea of the type of work they want to do, a headhunter might be able to lead them directly to it, or have new possibilities that never would have occurred to them. Some head-hunters specialize in public-sector recruiting, and others private sector.
