ABSTRACT

We now come to the cost to provide the facilities needed to accommodate development projected to occur between 2000 and 2020. This exercise is rarely, if ever, done in land-use and facility planning. It need not be complicated, as shown in the simple calculations in 10-1. Here, costs per unit of facility expansion and land are provided by officials or others who know those costs. They need not be precise nor should they be considered the final word on costs since that can only be known when facilities are actually built. However, they should be reasonably based on recent or current construction costs and costs experienced by similar communities.
