ABSTRACT

Utilities include water and wastewater systems, electrical and natural gas grids, telephone systems, cable systems, and drainage facilities and ways. Planning assumption for the amount of total developed land that is used for roads, drainage, utility easements, and other property-serving purposes. This is based on local planning knowledge and planning targets. Land-use needs for private utilities yards and offices are assumed within the Transportation, Communication, and Utilities employment land-use category. Demand Per Unit the assumed levels of consumption per day by land use. The figures shown in this example are high relative to national averages but are within reason for low-density suburban areas with inflow and infiltration problems. Although demand for domestic water and wastewater treatment varies by land use, region conservation efforts, and age of system some general consumption information is useful for planning purposes. Employee In-Place Percent information is adapted from Environmental Health Planning Guide.
