ABSTRACT

A planning study should include the goals of the

study, questions to ask, data needs, public partic-

ipation activities, and a schedule for completing

an analysis of the study area. The planning study

should also note when and how CommunityViz

can help to produce results that you, your client, the

public, or elected officials can use to make informed

planning decisions. This chapter provides advice for

the design of many types of planning studies, such

as scenario planning and project planning. But the

details of any planning study will depend on your

particular topic, budget, schedule, and the char-

acteristics of the study area. Sections 2 through 5

that might result from actions taken today. A

as changes in population, fiscal conditions, envi-

ronmental quality, and heart-and-soul resources.
