ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discusses the plans for many of the counties in the contributions of agriculture to community character and tourism as well as jobs and economic development. It explores in 1980 general plan created rural service lines as well as urban service lines around its communities. The book aims to achieve multiple objectives by preserving sites with archaeological and historic as well as environmental significance, in keeping with its goal of protecting. It focuses on farmland preservation to such an extent that some feared the voters might not reauthorize the special sales tax that funds the program. Planning is indispensible to the difficult process of deciding what land to target for permanent preservation. Focused plans may concentrate on individual resources, such as prime farmland or the habitat of endangered species.
