ABSTRACT

Weatherstone contributes to West Vincent Township's goal of securing protection for a communitywide open space network. The community encompasses 1,200acres, including an 82-acre nature preserve and a 76-acre mixed use development known as Watter's Creek. Watters Creek, which is the mixed use part of Montgomery Farms, covers 76 acres, with 1.5 miles of frontage along the Central Expressway, one of the most heavily traveled highways in the state. Montgomery Farm is also significant for its extensive network of walking trails and multiuse paths shared by cyclists, joggers, and pedestrians, which will total 14 miles when completed. In 2003, the Atlanta Regional Commission awarded a Livable Centers Initiative grant to the Chattachoochee Hill Country to develop a high-density, mixed use model village plan. A six-city trail is planned to extend through Montgomery Farm, connecting Frisco in the northwest with Dallas to the south.
