ABSTRACT

One topic concerning procedures used for multifamily developments that may differ from that used for single-family subdivisions relates to final subdivision maps for condominium apartment buildings. Multifamily developments must have site plans that function very well, provide a safe environment, provide an attractive setting, and are economical to install and maintain. Locating a multifamily building on a site is considerably more challenging and complex than is site design for single-family subdivisions. The design of structures for apartment development borders on the critical, however. The relationship between parking areas and the place of residence of apartment development occupants is extremely important. The connection between the two should be as short as possible, and clearly safe to traverse at all hours of the day and night. Some parking space should be provided on site for visitors to the occupants of large residential developments.
