ABSTRACT
Transportation planning and land-use plan-
ning often go hand in hand at the regional or
metropolitan scale. Each type of planning influ-
ences the other because growth tends to follow
transportation networks, while transportation
networks try to anticipate growth. Planning
horizons are long, often 20 years or more, and
the study areas are large. This chapter describes
CommunityViz techniques and tools that are
unique to regional land-use and transporta-
tion analyses. Figure 11.1 summarizes these and
other regional plans and describes how Com-
munityViz supports them.
