ABSTRACT
To represent the full AC network in the economic dispatch, optimal power flow (OPF) is developed. In this chapter, power flow equations and their derivations are briefly introduced first. Then, optimal power flow model and its solution algorithms are presented in this chapter. DC optimal power flow, which is a simplified version of AC optimal power flow, is introduced. To consider security operations and N-1 contingency criteria, security-constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF) models are presented in this chapter. To illustrate the models, examples are provided for ACOPF, DCOPF, and SCOPF. In the end, modified OPF models for power system operations with different objective functions are provided.
