ABSTRACT

The paper presents the results of experiments aimed at studying the strain and energy parameters of rock samples from the Khibiny and Kovdor rock massifs (Murmansk region, Russia) under uniaxial compression. The nature of changes in the specific strain energy under loading has been established. Critical energy values have been determined, the excess of which leads to the dynamic failure of rocks. The relationship between the rock samples strain under high axial loads and probable occurrence of dynamic failure at the Khibiny and Kovdor rock massifs has been defined.
