ABSTRACT
The mechanical properties of coal are of great importance in coal mining engineering where they relate to the selection of mining methods, determining the blasting parameters, stability analysis of coal roadways, prevention of coal bumps and bursts, dust generation, cuttability and workability or grindability of coal, slope stability analysis, etc. Due to this fact, the research carried out worldwide on the subject will be summarized.
