ABSTRACT

Increasing demand on energy increases coal production requirement. According to 2017 data, around 37% of the world’s electricity comes from coal (https://www.worldcoal.org/coal/uses-coal/coal-). The increased production in parallel to increase of the number of personnel leads to health and safety problems. Diminishing of coal reserves on surface forces the industry to exploit deeper underground coal reserves, which is also considered as a risk for health and safety. Around 64% of the world’s anthracite and bituminous coal production came from underground mining in 2005 (Johnson 2007). Automated mechanized production is considered as the basic solution to supply the required high coal demand and reduce health and safety problems.
