ABSTRACT

Boosting our self-esteem is necessary to lead an emotionally sober life. The DBT skill of Build Mastery is finding something you’re good at and mastering it which builds your self-esteem. A person becomes more confident in their own abilities when they attempt to complete a task, use a skill or be the best person they can be. This realization of our strengths help balance out negative feedback, judgments and comparing others and gives us a better ability to deal with regulating our emotions more skillfully. This chapter guide the client into figuring out what he can master to boost his self- esteem and in turn move closer to building a life worth living.
