ABSTRACT
This chapter draws together the findings of this book. It comments on the transformation of land tenure and aboriginal society in Taiwan, reflects on the different styles of colonisation of the Qing and Japan, extends the comparison to Qing colonisation and colonisation by Western states where relevant, and considers the relationship between colonisation and the legal tradition.
