ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 provides a review of important anti-corruption laws in Russia and makes several proposals to improve public policies in this sphere. The chapter also looks at how public-private partnerships can be used to combat corruption in the economy. In addition, suggestions are provided on how Russian business associations and professional networks can increase their effectiveness in mobilizing entrepreneurs and organizing collective action against corruption. Particular attention is paid to successful international initiatives against corruption that can be used as a role model by Russian business associations. Collective entrepreneurial organizations have a wide range of opportunities to organize a public-private dialogue and put pressure on public officials to alter inefficient regulations. The chapter concludes that collective action against corruption can be a potential force leading to synergies that individual entrepreneurs would not be able to achieve independently.
