ABSTRACT

It is quite human to compare ourselves to those around us. It is easy to enter a school, look around, and begin to judge our parenting as it relates to the parents who surround us. It is easy to get caught in the comparison game. While comparison can bring perspective, it can also lead to misperceptions, anxiety, and a sense that our child isn't getting what they need from their formal learning environment. When comparing schools consider how much of the learning can be individualized or personalized based on our student's strengths. Apples-to-apples comparison of schools is a very difficult task for parents. Though comparison can be important and helpful in choosing the right school, it can create anxiety about the performance of any individual school.
