ABSTRACT

In casting, as in all aspects of filmmaking, generate abundance from which film directors can select. Film and theatre professors are good resources and will often suggest names for they to try out. If their budget is rock bottom, they will have to work really hard. While their cast, remind themselves periodically that a few individuals are always hidden among the ranks of the unremarkable who live their lives with wit, intelligence, vigor, and individuality. Throughout the history of film, a great many directors have used non-professional actors in principle roles primarily to bring authenticity and a genuine voice to a particular character. All actors have some difficulty playing negative characteristics, especially if they fear these are in their own makeup. Be careful, for it can be disastrous during shooting if an actor thinks film directors cast him for his own negative qualities.
