ABSTRACT

Leading each of the three phases of the Performance Trilogy® requires different attributes (i.e., talents and skills ascribed to leader) during each phase. In the leadership phase, leader’s role is to "lead from the front," to create and promote a compelling strategy that inspires faith among his/her team. This chapter discusses the critical attributes needed to ensure that the appropriate management actions are taken. Producing results requires conscientiousness, the motivation and discipline to be thorough and dependable; productivity, the ability to manage one's energy and focus; and discernment, the ability to consistently make good decisions based on cognitive and intuitive judgment. Building trust requires integrity, behavior that is honest and consistent in words and actions; empathy, a genuine concern for the feelings and aspirations of others; and teaching skills, the desire to learn the talents and motivations of others and stimulate their self-learning.
