ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces a leadership framework which is focused on the specific roles needed and actions one must take as a leader to generate emotions that can drive team members to want to follow him/her. It presents an approach to leading the Performance Trilogy to stimulate these emotions based on logic backed up by data. Leading each of the three processes of the Performance Trilogy requires that leader assumes different leadership roles and responsibilities. Human nature tells us that there are basically two major reasons why people are willing to make substantial changes in life: the first is through inspiration and the second is through desperation. It is important that the destination leader chooses be highly desirable. To get inspired by any vision, be it a personal, team, or institutional one, the vision needs to provide meaning and purpose not only to leader and his/her superiors but also to the team that needs to execute.
