ABSTRACT
This is where individuals strive to be someone they believe will be respected by peers. This could include being a ‘hard man’, ‘tough girl’, ‘cool kid’. This is part of the adolescent search for identity, but it can get out of control and have a negative impact on class interactions. It becomes most concerning when it can lead to behaviours in or out of school that become dangerously aggressive in an effort to maintain this image.
