ABSTRACT

This chapter presents some assumptions of the proposed algorithm “an energy-efficient and safe weighted clustering algorithm (ES-WCA)”. It outlines some approaches of clustering used in ad hoc networks and wireless sensor networks. The chapter details an extended version of ES-WCA. Research studies on clustering in ad hoc networks involve surveyed works on clustering algorithms and cluster head (CH) election algorithms. The chapter introduces the different metrics used for CH election by focusing on behaviour-level metric. The resulting weighted clustering algorithm reduces energy consumption and guaranties the choice of legitimate CHs. A. Jain and B. V. R. Reddy have proposed a novel method of modelling wireless sensor network using fuzzy graph and energy-efficient fuzzy-based k-hop clustering algorithm which takes into account the dynamic nature of network, volatile aspects of radio links, and physical layer uncertainty. The Unified Modelling Language may be used to visualize, specify, construct, and document the artifacts of a software-intensive system.
