ABSTRACT

La ciudad y el viento is not a well-known text and Dolores Castro has been largely overlooked in Mexican literary history. She is included in only six histories of Mexican literature, one of which was published before La ciudad y el viento and, as a result, only refers to her poetry. In the histories of Mexican literature published after 1962, entries about Castro tend to be brief and focus on her poetry, for which she has achieved growing recognition, particularly since the 1980s. La ciudad y el viento was also listed in the Boletín Bibliográfico Mexicano. Readers may have been persuaded to read La ciudad y el viento because of the publicity and the reputation of the Ficciones collection or because they enjoyed other books in the series. Although the Editorial Universidad Veracruzana was not in the same league as the Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE) it was.
