ABSTRACT

Peter Neaverson sadly died from cancer aged 75 on 22 December 2004. His passing leaves a considerable gap in British industrial archaeology, in which he has been actively involved for over 25 years. Peter especially enjoyed working in the Record Office and local history libraries in Cornwall. Peter became a member of the Association for Industrial Archaeology and joined me as Joint Editor of Industrial Archaeology Review in 1984. Peter was a member of many organisations, including The Newcomen Society, the Peak District Mines Historical Society and the Railway and Canal Historical Society. He was an Honorary Visiting Fellow first in the Department of History and then in the School of Archaeology and Ancient History in the University of Leicester. It is, however, as a member of Association for Industrial Archaeology (AIA) that he will be most remembered for his many contributions as an editor and a Council member.
