ABSTRACT
To develop a reflection on the poetic text in terms of the non-lieu is to attempt to characterize a variable domain within a wider and pre-existing paradigm. The commonplace that all 'text' is to some extent thinkable as a non-lieu needs both refinement and supplementing with respect to the utopian properties of poetic work. Meditation on and development of the spatial qualities of the poetic text, and its approach as a constructed space with specific properties of condensation, containment, and communication, have been important factors in the development of a reflection on modern poetic work in French. Spatialization has become an inescapable feature of the structuring discourses of the poetic, whether of practitioners or of commentators. Poetic textuality can be found inheriting, mirroring, and transforming the situatedness of the subject in its own handling of situation, relation, and organization.
