ABSTRACT
The objective of this chapter is to present the communications modules, with the features of each communication protocol, for the microcontroller and Internet communications. A comparison table for the different communication modules is presented to show key benefits of each communication module. In addition, we give a summary comparison of each microcontroller communication protocol to show their strengths and weaknesses. A summary comparison, at the end of this chapter, illustrates the different transport layer communication protocols. Also, there is a summary comparison of the different application layer communication protocols to show the key benefit of each communication protocol and to help select a particular communication protocol suitable for particular applications.
