ABSTRACT

Construction is the translation of the owner’s goals and objectives, by the contractor, to build the facility as stipulated in the contract documents, plans and specifications on schedule and within budget. During the New Stone Age, people introduced dried bricks, wall construction, metal working and irrigation. The first half of the twentieth century witnessed the construction industry becoming an important sector throughout the world, employing many workers. Construction projects are constantly increasing in technological complexity. Building and commercial, traditional architect/engineer type of construction projects accounts for an estimated 25% of the annual construction volume. Construction projects comprise a cross-section of many different participants. Construction projects are executed based on predetermined set of goals and objectives. Construction projects are unique and non-repetitive in nature and have their own quality requirements which can be developed by the integration of project specifications and the organization’s quality management system.
