ABSTRACT

The demise of the 50-minute therapy hour and expectations to integrate physical and psychological health concerns means that therapists in agencies and private practice must modify practice patterns in big and small ways. This chapter describes the use of ultra-brief interventions in several new, i.e., “alternative,” practice models, including integrated care. Whether in specialized mental health settings when the number of sessions is limited, and time frames are shorter, or in primary care settings, these interventions can be easily incorporated with any therapeutic orientation to achieve effective therapeutic outcomes.
