ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors show the largest gap in addressing the hot–arid and hot–humid climates. Furthermore, these are the regions where they need to enhance resiliency the most. The authors focus on creating examples of dynamic lot types for hot climate zones. Depending on the context, different lot sizes and shapes may be desired and crafted. When different lot sizes are to be coded, the zone depths need to be adjusted accordingly. Southwestern Court Shallow Lot Type uses similar tools with Desert Hybrid Court Lot Type on a more modest scale. Both Creole townhouse and Andalusian court building types offer good responses for the relatively milder variations of hot–humid climates such as Mediterranean subtropical. For tropical climates where more extreme conditions exist, stronger responses are needed. Tropical Urban Court Lot Type is crafted to provide an example which addresses the more extreme tropical conditions.
