ABSTRACT

When people come together and feel a sense of community, they feel included. Using an asset-based model is effective when one is considering communities. Communities have assets and capacities that can be useful in addressing community concerns. Inclusion and equity are terms that are related to an impact the success of cultural organizations whose goal is to be deeply involved with their communities. The term community stakeholder is often used to refer to community members who care about, have a strong interest in, are affected by, or have an effect on a project. Community stakeholders are referred to as community gatekeepers, and this term is sometimes used to identify individuals who control access into a community. Communities that rank high on this aspect of social capital benefit from a hum of civic activity. Public capital is a concept related to social capital and was developed by the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation.
