ABSTRACT

Regional partnerships can help resolve the problem of variations in SEND services across the country, so that the services available to children do not depend on where they live. One of the main ways of doing this is to bring together all those involved in SEND in a particular region, so they can share expertise and experience, learn from each other’s successes, identify gaps in provision and plan how to fill them. If agencies outside of school and individual practitioners within schools work together to support the educational development of children with SEND through holistic approaches this will contribute to aiding their social, physical, emotional, and intellectual needs both within and outside of school. This chapter sets out to examine the roles that some professionals play in supporting teachers and children with SEND and to state the case for working in partnership rather than in isolation as a means to successful and meaningful participation and engagement in PE.
