ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the question of “Vertical Urbanism” in Great Britain during the decades after the Second World War. The era saw many attempts to build a new nation. The UK’s experiences are punctuated by partial successes and significant disappointments as well as failures. This period in European design, therefore, continues to provide useful perspectives through which to view current models of vertical city form in China and elsewhere.
