ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a detailed introduction to the history of immunotherapy, starting with the original description of immunotherapy in 1911 by Noon and Freeman to modern-day advances in this therapy. Additionally, the chapter provides a historical perspective of the immunologic breakthroughs that led to conception of modern immunotherapy and finally concludes with a brief overview of current immunomodulatory therapies.
