A mother’s work

In this chapter, I talk about my mother’s artistic practice as a trained artist in South Korea who immigrated to the United States and became a seamstress at my parent’s dry-cleaning business. After 24 years of not making any art, my mother returned to her art practice and opened her first solo exhibition at the Chicago Artist Coalition. She was only able to create new artworks by turning her workplace into her art studio.
