ABSTRACT

Teaching in the 21st century requires practitioners to know more than just their subject matter, curriculum, and classroom management techniques. Although technology has enhanced education, it has also complicated the demands placed on teachers. They must know how to use Web 2.0 tools to prepare reports, access and record data, and supplement instruction. Because of the technological demands placed on teachers, practicum students need more preparation with technology. Using Web 2.0 tools and features during the practicum experience will help student teachers learn how to integrate technology into the instructional routine. When used efficiently and appropriately, technology can help student teachers emerge as confident members of the teaching profession. In addition to learning how to use 21st-century tools, student teachers will also understand how to reduce workload, collaborate with others, and find the support needed to become an effective first-year teacher.
