ABSTRACT

This chapter attempts to build a bridge between two very different research fields, namely, interest mediation and framing. Findings from both areas are incorporated into a model of how to measure lobbying success and the effects of frames.

Research on interest mediation shows that the heterogeneous interests in a society should be taken into account and that studies should differentiate between different kinds of actors – for example, companies, interest organizations and institutions. Furthermore, the performance of these various stakeholders is also found to vary between policy field and nationality.
