ABSTRACT
Plenty has been published on the issue of the theory of civilizing processes, even to the extent that some have argued that the topic has been sufficiently debated (Dunning, 1999, p. 41). However, this alone does not leave us with much. It has not been sufficiently analysed to conclude that it is either to be accepted or refuted. It is only through the analysis of research that such conclusions may be drawn.
