ABSTRACT

This chapter explains that everyone is responsible for delivering quality, hence the need for a sound culture based on getting it right, and proposes a generic approach to creating one. The ideal scope of the project team crosses organisational and commercial boundaries, reaching suppliers of critical components in the supply chain. The chapter details the quality responsibilities at all levels, across the roles in the organisation, project and supply chain, before discussing the need for, and approaches to, building an acceptance of quality management in the face of scepticism. The value of third parties in assuring quality is probed. The concept is introduced of the Quality Register as a central, comprehensive picture of how right the project is.
