ABSTRACT

This chapter steps through the project lifecycle, looking in detail at the quality tools and techniques applicable at each stage. The lifecycle starts with the initial concept, and leads through to the normal end-point, Delivery/Go-Live/Handover. It goes on to discuss the dependency on project quality for a successful operational life of the project output, illustrating cases where poor design has led to operational issues. It concludes by looking at decommissioning, briefly considering the nuclear industry’s challenges resulting from decommissioning being ignored by projects creating and operating these facilities.
