ABSTRACT

The vision of the book is to move troubled Christian clients from sexual ignorance to sexual knowledge, from a sense of the scarcity of sexual pleasure and experiences to an embrace of ideas of abundance, and from the burden of guilt and sexual shame to experiences of sexual freedom and pleasure. The negative sexual beliefs of ignorance, scarcity, and suspicion of pleasure cause significant damage and prevent growing and thriving. Yet, inasmuch as Christianity teaches righteous behavior and science teaches the characteristics of healthy sexual relationships, the outcomes are consistent—that is, health and well-being. This premise imparts a new language to the secularly trained sexologist—that of righteousness, wisdom, and goodness—thus giving the sexologist leverage to educate the client or student on the findings of biological and social science as a legitimate source of authority.
