ABSTRACT

This chapter begins by setting the scene as to what al services firm of the future would look like in the future, the 'flag on the hill' so to speak and the strategic planning to achieve that desired end-state. It explores some of the externalities of market drivers and changes, suggests a process for strategic planning, how to establish a vision for success, concluding with an indicative organisational strategy map. The chapter sets out a vision of what operating a successful professional services firm would feel like, the pulse, the mojo, or the organisational DNA. The representation of what SUCCESS would look like for an inspirational leader of a professional services firm is sustainability, unrelenting, consulting, culture, essence, success, and special. Investigating the peer group of large international professional services firms in the legal, accounting and technical professions, there is a close commonality of any vision, mission or value statements.
