ABSTRACT

Urban research is a complicated and specialized activity and thus most periodicals in the field are aimed at a scholarly or practitioner audience. Several types of periodicals have been published in the field. There are periodicals that provide informational overviews of the urban environment. Computers, Environment, and Urban Systems journal provides theory and opinion regarding the role of computers in planning human activities in the environment. Journal of the American Planning Association addressing the activities of urban planners on the local, state, and national levels, the journal's focus is upon physical, economic, and social aspects of the urban environment which affect the work of urban planners. Planning is a journal of municipal management. There is a monthly summary of important news affecting housing, land use, transportation, and urban planning. Urban Anthropology is produced by the Institute for the Study of Man.
