No. l. COLONIAL OFFICE to the BRITISH SOUTH AFRICA COMPANY.2

Sir, Downing Street, 18th December, 1913.

With reference to the letter from this Department of the 6th September last,* I am directed by Mr. Secretary Harcourt3 to state that the High Commissioner for South Africa4 has reported, as a result of an interview with Mr. Malcolm,5 that he understands that your Directors are now favourably disposed to the idea of the appointment of a Commission for the de nition of the native reserves in Southern Rhodesia. Mr. Harcourt would be glad to know whether this is the case, and if so, what proposals the Board have to make in the matter.
