As this is being written I have had placed in my hands your telegram of yesterday, expressing concurrence in my proposal that we should follow the Imperial Government’s precedent and establish a mixed force of Europeans and Basutos. I shall take this matter up at once, but I think it would help if the Board would privately approach Lyttelton3 and endeavour to remove any obstacle that might occur on your side.
