ABSTRACT
I confess I had not much hope of succeeding in our expedition; though I was certain, if my friends the gipsies had any hand in the business, I should not have much difficulty in recovering little William. I was by no means pleased, however, to be under the control of a superior, to whom all the merit would (as is usually the case) be given, while all the trouble would fall to my share.
