ABSTRACT

From the whole story, it appeared to me that this Joe Banbury must either be actually crazed, or a goose of the first water, to dream of turning a wild and improbable farce (I think I may call it so without offence) like the Taming of the Shrew, into a serious domestic performance. He had, therefore, met with all the success he deserved; and instead of taming poor Mrs. Banbury, was in the fair way, it appeared, of untaming her, by either making her mad in good earnest, or exciting her to effect her escape from his mad discipline.
