ABSTRACT

Several years before the last wedding in the family we left our country home in Sussex and took a house at Walton-on-Thames. Warnham Place was lovely and delightful, but its upkeep was terribly expensive, and my father must have lost a great deal of money over it. At River House there was only a very large garden to manage, instead of the many acres of land he had to deal with at Warnham Place.
