ABSTRACT

The Invaders laid the blame for the ultimate failure of their Raid on the shoulders of Dandy Hansen. If he had carried out his programme, brushed past Rudd, and pushed on to London, all would have been well. The gallant stand made by the Territorials on the Kentish Downs had made all the difference. Stanley had been able to mobilise a powerful force, and, as already has been seen, marched to the relief of Rudd and crushed Hansen’s army.
